Brent Friesen - Owner Operator
Brent was born and raised in Williams Lake. He started teaching low-impact aerobics and aquasizes at the Sam Ketcham Memorial Pool in 1988. From there he became a BCRPA certified personal trainer. As he progressed through his personal training career he realized he had to move to a bigger center to further his education. In 1998, Brent and his wife Renee moved to Vancouver. Brent started teaching at various fitness centers in Vancouver teaching 20 to 25 fitness classes a week. Realizing he could not carry on at that rate, he took the first of his Pilates training through Polestar Education out of Florida. In mid 2000 he certified with Polestar and started teaching around Vancouver, predominantly at the Arbutus Club, The Jewish Community Center, West Vancouver Recreation Center, and Denman Fitness. As his classes grew in popularity his passion for Pilates also grew as he could see the positive changes a hands on approach to teaching had on his participants. In late 2004, Brent started the lengthy training program through STOTT Pilates. With the completion of the training through STOTT, Brent and Renee decided to move back to Wlliams Lake to give their young son the opportunities they had as children growing up in the Cariboo. This also enabled Brent to open Essence Pilates Fitness Studio.
Brent's goal at Essence Pilates is to offer small classes with personalized programs for every body. Brent believes this is important so that results are noticed and injuries are prevented. Thorough guidance and a personal approach is what Essence Pilates Fitness Studio is all about.
